History

The Ahram Canadian University ACU is a non-profit institution founded on October 2005. By Al-Ahram Establishment

Over 1800 students are enrolled for the 2011-2012 academic year. The courses are geared towards new professional fields and provide practice-oriented training.

The lecturers at the Ahram Canadian University are Egyptians and Canadians some of them were trained in Canada. They are supported by visiting Canadian professors. The courses are supposed to be conducted in English, but because the majority of the teachers have no respect for the school's policy, and the staff does not care in the slightest, lectures are all in Arabic. The school has no respect for the students who cannot speak Arabic, but rather favors the students who cannot speak English, who should not be enrolled in the Canadian University to begin with.

System of study and social life

GUC adopts the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Its credit point system is used as the basis for transferring grades and credits for student records to create international curricular compatibility, facilitating academic recognition according to the European standards.

The GUC has various clubs such as; German University in Cairo Model United Nations (GUCMUN), Big Buddy Society(BBS),[3] Student in Free Enterprise-German University in Cairo (SIFE-GUC), the Scientific Pharmaceutical Students' Association (GUC-SPSA), Pioneers and the Global Conference on Business Transactions (GCBT). This allows students to perform extracurricular activities and events under the supervision of the GUC administration. Some clubs and societies have been great aid to their fellow students, not only in the extracurricular activities but in their studies as well. Their concept is that older students help the younger ones in adapting to the GUC life.
